Physical Abuse

Physical abuse is deliberately hurting a child causing injuries such as bruises, broken bones, burns or cuts. Punishing a child with pain to some extent is fine, but there is a fine line between punishing for his/her mischief and taking out your anger. The worst thing is this is a norm in our society saying "He/She is your dad/mom and he/she has the right on you to do whatever."
Thing is when you take your anger on a child, neither he/she can talk back to you nor hurt you back in any way. Anger, on the other hand, is a natural phenomenon, and your acts of violence will just fuel the anger within the child. All this aggression will then be transferred to the next generation, and the violence loop keeps on going.

Sexual Abuse

A taboo to talk about but quite often you hear a story in which a child has been sexually molested by someone really close to them or work in their house (i.e. Maid, Driver, Father/Mother's Friend, Uncles, Aunts etc.). In these situations, there are two scenarios either the parents don't acknowledge the sexual abuse because the child is too young to understand that, and the other one is to stay quiet just because "What will society say?".
But what about the child who now is having trust issues and he/she is now hating his/her parents to some extent who didn't take stand for their child? What about the loneliness and depression which now is an inseparable part of the child's life?

Our society is becoming more materialistic than ever which makes us vulnerable to these situations even more. Guardians/Parents need to speak up and confront the culprits not for themselves but for the bright future of their child and this nation.

BREAK THE SILENCE

Mental Abuse

A lot of parents in the society call their child names and use demoralizing words.
"You can't do it."
"You have no hope."
"You are too immature."
"You lack confidence."
"You are useless."
All these words will cause confusion for the child in the future till later on in his/her life as he/she will lose all the confidence in him/herself and won't be able to show the real potential he/she has. Believe it or not, WORDS TAKE TOLL.

Child Labour

Child labour is quite a big issue in Pakistan where we snatch away a kid's childhood and forces him/her to live a mature life. The hands that should have toys in them are equipped with tools just for the sake of a tiny amount of money. This skipping of a period (childhood) causes a lack of other personality aspects the need of which later on cannot be met.
